Access control system manufacturers have taken an interest in Seenaptec SecureBus support
After the first public demonstration of the Seenaptec Access Platform, representatives of several companies in the access control market expressed interest in supporting Seenaptec SecureBus (SSB) in their products.
SSB is a Seenaptec-developed extension of OSDP capabilities, designed primarily to automate the connection and operation of equipment on the line.
Standard OSDP provides a modern addressable and secure channel for interacting with peripheral devices. However, when building large-scale systems, a significant part of the engineering work is still related to the initial configuration of equipment: discovering devices, assigning addresses, selecting line parameters, and subsequent maintenance.
Seenaptec SecureBus moves these operations to the software platform level.
A compatible device can be discovered by the system via its serial number, automatically receive a free address, and negotiate connection parameters. Once discovered, the equipment immediately becomes available for further configuration and integration into the site's infrastructure.
For an engineer, this fundamentally changes the way they work with an OSDP network. Instead of sequentially configuring each device, a software-managed infrastructure is created in which installation, replacement, and scaling of equipment can be performed centrally.
At the same time, SSB does not replace OSDP. The basic exchange with devices continues to be built on the standard OSDP protocol, including the use of OSDP Secure Channel. SSB adds automation functions that are especially in demand at sites with a large number of devices and distributed infrastructure.
Interest in the technology from other market participants is an important outcome of the platform's first public presentation for Seenaptec.
The company is considering providing SSB to technology partners for integration into software and controllers from third-party manufacturers. This approach will allow equipment from different companies to operate within a single automatically configured OSDP infrastructure.
For Seenaptec, this also means evolving the platform from supporting its own equipment toward an open partner ecosystem around OSDP.
Seenaptec is currently preparing technical documentation and a licensing model for Seenaptec SecureBus for manufacturers and developers of access control systems.
